Episode 163 features previous SITB guest King Topher! You might remember him as King Arthur but a new chapter has unfolded in the King's story and we had such a great time catching up on the rebrand and talking about what he's been up to since our last interview 🤴
In 163 we discussed:
•Bring The Kingdom Label: Launched just over a year ago, BTK has seen over 6 million streams on Spotify across a slew of incredible releases from artists like MADDOW, Munnday, Ralov, Castnowksi, The Two Fake Blondes, the King himself and so many more. We talked about what it's like working under the Hexagon umbrella, qualifying demos, and future plans for the label. 🙌🏻
•Recent King Topher releases: The King has been on fire since our last interview in Nov 2019! Although 2020 was a tough year to release dance music, he released some incredibly special and profound releases like "I Found You" with Kwesi, "Sax In The City" with Dot N Life, "Pressure" with Munnday and MAO - and an official remix of Tove Lo's "sadder badder cooler". Oh yeah... and oh yeah, his remix of Daya's "Insomnia" is at 29 million plays. 😎
•The past, present, and future of house music: King Topher has been in the game for over 20 years and has first hand seen the impact of house music on a global scale. We talked about how massive artists like Diplo, Alesso, and David Guetta are playing a big role in paving a clear path for house producers to make it. Really enjoyed this portion of the interview. 🔮
Some of you might know but King Topher and I are from the same hometown of Zionsville, IN. I've looked up to Topher for years and I can't begin to tell you how much of an inspiration he is for me on so many levels. I genuinely respect him as an artist, label head, member of the music community and most of all as a friend. 💚
Thank you so much for coming on the show again and congratulations on becoming a father very soon! Can't wait to play with you side by side in Chicago soon. 🏙
