As you well know, I absolutely love hip/hop and rap music and I am so pumped to have an old friend of mine on the show - Episode 156 features ATL based rapper @itsfickybaby !
You might have caught some of our interview last week on Instagram live but there were so many amazing topics that I knew I had to share it again. 🎬
In episode 156 we discussed:
•Early inspirations and influences: Originally from Indiana, Ficky has a deep appreciation and respect for all styles of rap but draws inspiration from artists like Kanye West, J.Cole, T.I. and more - Ficky's unique style showcases flavors from some of the best in the game but wrapped up in his own special way. 😎
•Discography: Ficky's first official release was in 2017 and although it was a slow burn to start, he never stopped making new music and has well over 100 unreleased tracks to date. In the past 2 years things have really taken off releasing tracks like "Sneakerhead", "Lotto", "Haterade" and released an 8 track album titled "Journey Home". We talked through the backstories and creative process of some of his most powerful tracks - this guy is a machine. 💪🏻
•Marketing, Branding, and Self-Promotion: The landscape for a rapper is so much different than electronic music and Ficky has truly his his stripes and built a dedicated following over the years. He gave us the DL on how he uses various social media platforms to build hype and help his future fans discover him. LOTS of good info in here for any upcoming artist.👏🏻
I can honestly say that Ficky hustles just as hard as anyone out there trying to make it and THEN some. His relentless work ethic and true passion for music is beyond admirable and his music speaks for itself. 💯
It was amazing connecting with Justin again and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for him. 🤩
